Bengal gram and moong dhal Kheer

ORIGIN:

This kheer variety is a popular Brahmin (south indian) dish prepared on festive as well as auspicious occassions.Its main ingredient is dhal and therefore this is rich in proteins.Its good for health.Diabetic patients stay away!

INGREDIENTS
Moong dhal - 1 cup.

Bengal gram dhal - 2 tsps.

Jaggery - 1/4 kg.

cardamom powder - 1 tsp.

Milk - 1 cup.

Water - 2 cups.

Cashew nuts - 8

Ghee - 2 tsps.

PROCEDURE

Step 1:Wash the moong dhal and bengal gram dhal and drain the water.

Step 2:Now add water to the dhal mixture and cook in a pressure cooker for 20 minutes.

Step 3:Now, add jaggery to the cooked dhal mixture ,then add 1 cup of water and boil for 5 minutes.

Step 4:Now,add milk ,cardamom powder and boil for 5 more minutes.

Step 5:Fry cashew nuts in ghee (2 tsps) and add these to the above boiling mixture and stir well.

Step 6:Thus the kheer is ready to be served.

Serve hot or cold.

NOTE:

*Take all the ingredients in the above mentioned quantity only.

*Do not refrigerate the kheer while it is hot,allow it to cool down to room temperature.
