Potato Podimas

ORIGIN :
"Potato podimas " is a famous south indian dish.Since potato is rich in carbohydrates,it is good for health(but diabetic patients and those who diet ,please be away! ).Potato is the only vegetable which is liked by almost all the people all around the world.

INGREDIENTS

Potatoes -1 /2 kg.

Green Chillis -4

Ginger - small piece

Salt - to taste

grated Coconut -2 tsps.

Lemon juice - 2 tsps.

Tumeric powder - 1/4 tsp.

mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp.

Oil - 2 tsp.

Black gram - 1 tsp.

PROCEDURE

Step 1:Add water to the potatoes (till they are immersed in water) and boil them in a pressure cooker for 15 minutes.

Step 2:Once the potatoes are cooked ,peel off the skin.

Step 3:Now smash the cooked potatoes.

Step 4:Add 2 tsps. of oil to the frying pan and heat it.

Step 5:Now add mustard seeds,Black gram to the pan ,wait until the mustard seeds sputter .

Step 6:Now add the chopped green chillis ,tumeric powder,ginger,salt and the smashed potatoes to the pan and fry them till all the ingredients are cooked.

Step 7:Now add the grated coconut to the mixture and fry for 2 minutes.

Step 8:Now pour 2 tsps. of lemon juice (without salt or sugar in the juice - only plain juice) into the pan and mix well.

Step 8:Remove from heat .

Serve hot with puris,plain rice or variety rice.

NOTE:

*Take all the ingredients in the above mentioned quantity only.
*After lemon juice is added ,donot heat the potatoes for a long time ,otherwise it would turn bitter.
*Donot add sugared or salted lemon juice ,just squeeze the juice from fresh lemons.
