Puri (poodi)

ORIGIN:

Puris (poodi) are a typical day to day dish in the north india.Its main ingredient is wheat rich in carbohydrates and less in sugar content.Usually chappathis are taken as a main dish with some gravy or curry as the side dish.

INGREDIENTS

Wheat flour - 2cups.

Oil - 200 ml.

water - 3/4 cup.

PROCEDURE

Step 1:Take a bowl ,add wheat flour ,salt,2 tsps. of oil and mix 3/4 cup of water with it.

Step 2:Make a dough by mixing well.

Step 3:Now,size the dough into small balls with your fingers.(18 balls)

Step 4:Keep it aside for 1/2 an hour.

Step 5:Then take one ball ,press with all the four fingers till it becomes flate and circular,dip in dry wheat flour(both the sides of the circular plate).

Step 6:Now using roti stick,shape the piece into a thick ,small circular piece.

Step 7:Repeat the step 6 for each wheat ball.

Step 8:Add 200 ml of oil to a frying pan and heat it for 2 minutes.

Step 9:Once the oil is heated ,add the circular roti one by one to the oil and do a deep fry till golden brown.

Step 10.Puris are ready to be served.

Serve hot with curry or gravy.

NOTE:

*Please use the ingredients in the above mentioned quantity only.

*Do not heat the frying pan on high flame.

*Do not make thin circular pieces with the wheat balls,make only thick small pieces only then puris will bulge when deep fried.
