Rava Laddoo

Rava Laddoo

ORIGIN :

"Rava Laddoo" is a popular tamilian (south indian - Thanjavur ) sweet.Its prinicipal ingredient is bombay rava and ghee.It exists from the nineteenth century.

INGREDIENTS

Bombay rava - 1/2 kg.

Ghee - 1/4 kg.

Sugar - 1/2 kg.

Cashewnuts - 50 gms.

Cardamom powder - 11/2 tsps.

PROCEDURE

Step 1:Fry the bombay rava in a frying pan (dry fry - no oil or ghee) till the fresh smell goes off.

Step 2:Grind the fried rava in a mixer - grinder into nice powder.Keep this aside.

Step 3:Now,grind the sugar separately in a mixer-grinder into nice powder.

Step 4:Now mix sugar powder and rava powder together .

Step 5:Add ghee - fried cashew nuts and cardamom powder to the rava-sugar mixture.

Step 6:Mix well.Keep this mixture aside.

Step 7:Heat ghee (1/4 kg) in a frying pan till it melts into a liquid state.

Step 8:Now add the heated ghee into the bowl containing the mixture in small quantities every now and then and mixing well.

Step 9:Now take little amount of rava - sugar mixture and size into lemon sized balls with your hand.

Step 10:Thus,rava laddoo is ready.

Step 11:Serve when ready.

NOTE:

*Take all the ingredients in the above mentioned quantity only.

*After the ghee is added to the mixture , immediately prepare the laddoo balls .

*Use melted liquid ghee only and not frozen thick ghee.
