Simla Mirchi Rice
(Capsicum Rice)

ORIGIN
"Simla Mirchi " in hindi (North Indian language "Hindi" -National Language of India) means Capsicum.Capsicum is rich in Vitamin C and so good for children as well.It is a modern recipe and not traditional.

INGREDIENTS

Cooked Rice - 3 Cups.

Capsicum or Simla Mirchi - 1/4 kg.

Onion - 1 (medium size)

Red Chilli Powder - 1 tsp.

Coriander Seed Powder (Dhaniya Powder)- 1/2 tsp.

Tumeric Powder - 1/4 tsp.

Oil - 2 tbsps.

mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp.

Garam Masala Powder - 1/2 tsp.

Salt - to taste

Uradh Dhal - 1 tsp.

Bengal Gram - 1/2 tsp.

PROCEDURE

Step 1:Chop the capsicum and onion into small ,thin pieces and keep it aside .

Step 2:Pour 2 tbsps. of oil into the frying pan and heat it,add mustard seeds ,Uradh dhal and bengal gram into the pan .

Step 3:When the mustard seeds sputter,add the chopped onion and fry till it turns brown.

Step 4:Then add the chopped capsicum ,chilli powder,salt to taste ,coriander seed powder,tumeric powder,garam masala powder and fry them together in the frying pan.

Step 5:Fry till the capsicum is cooked.

Step 6:Then add 3 cups of cooked plain rice into the pan and mix well under heat .

Serve hot with plain curds,pappad or raithas

NOTE:
*Use finely cooked rice only
*Take all the ingredients in the above mentioned quantity only.
*Fry the chopped onion till it turns light brown .Donot over burn the onion pieces.
